more pictures...

I just got these pictures - they are from last night's show (not a good hair night). I thought they were way better than the one I posted earlier. I am one of those people that sometimes looks okay in pictures and then other times I look "practically deformed" (from Legally Blonde). Anyway, enjoy!

Clearly I am a bit obsessed - these will be the last pictures...I promise!

bittersweet

Last night I had a very bittersweet experience...it was the closing night for Bye Bye Birdie. It has been one the most fun things I have ever done - truly a great opportunity. I haven't done a show in years (like a lot of years) and I was so overwhelmed at first, but eventually I loosened up. I have made great friends, gotten to know the area and community so much better, and grow in a hobby that I love. On the other hand, I am exhausted! I was really ready for this to come to an end - mainly so I could start getting to bed at a reasonable time and start going out on dates with Scott again. Nonetheless I will do it again - not anytime soon mind you. I really have to thank Scott for being such a great sport about it - I rarely heard a complaint from him and this was a huge burden for him (although he says it was a nice way for him to spend some time with the kids).

I forgot to bring my camera last night, so all I have is this picture taken a couple days ago. When I get some more from other people I will post those.

Oh, the picture is of my little stage family!

what a blast!!!

We have new neighbors that moved in this last week. I love them! They have five children ranging from my kids' ages to a little older. I am so happy to have them living next door. Yesterday afternoon I heard a knock on the door and their 11 year-old was there and asked if my kids wanted to come over and play on their water slide. I was thinking it was one of those piddly, plastic bag ones - but oh no - this was a WATER SLIDE!!!! Adam and Lily were in heaven (and so was I).

backyard bbq on election day

Tuesday was the primary election - I went and voted with the kids and then we came home and decided it would be a good day for a BBQ. This is what I love about Utah - everyday lately has been a good day for a BBQ!

By the way, don't you love Scott's method of getting the coals going? We ran out of lighter fluid and so of course this was the next best option.

catch up time

I have been crazy busy lately and so therefore I have not blogged in a while. So this entry is to give my loyal blog fans the update on la familia Hill.

This last week Grandma and Grandpa Chickens (a.k.a. Dave and Dana - Scott parents) and Uncle Brett came to stay with us. They went into the MTC this morning. They will be in Provo for a little less than a week and then fly to Germany for a quick mission president conference. Brett will go to EFY while they are doing all of that and then fly into Germany on Sunday (week from tomorrow) to meet them. From there they will go to Slovenia. Adam loved snuggling with Uncle Brett while they were here.

We decided Gracie makes to cutest fairy around and she loved her new set of wings (they aren't really new - they were Lily's)
The biggest news as of late is that Lily has mastered riding her bike with no training wheels and sadly enough I missed it because of rehearsals!!! Scott said it was pretty painless and she had it down within a few minutes. She loves to ride and is so proud of herself.
Today I met up with my Boren cousins and their kids and we all went to the zoo. It was so much fun to see them and their kids are so cute. Here are a bunch of them piling into a boat that was at the zoo. It was such a blast and I was reminded why I loved playing with them all growing up! Our show opened last night and it was a success. I think it went really well - it was so much fun. Here we are singing "Ed Sullivan"

Thanks Sasha for the great pictures!

down to the wire

So, today is Tuesday and our show, "Bye Bye Birdie" opens on Friday! It is getting so close and to be honest I am starting to get a bit nervous - it has been a long time since I have performed like this (acting - not just singing at funerals, etc) in front of large audiences. I am really excited!

If you are in the Salt Lake Valley during the following dates, I would strongly encourage you to come see it. It has been really fun and there are some really talented people in the show - plus it is only $5 and it is outside. This is a picture of our four leads that was in the paper on Sunday...
Dates of show: June 20, 21, 23, 25, 26
Location: Salt Lake Community College, Redwood Campus - Alder Amphitheater (approx. 4700 S. and Redwood Rd)

how do i measure up?

The other day I was tidying up Gracie's room and just outside her door is our growth banner. Since they were all there (of course they were - they seem to always be within 5 feet of me) I thought it would be fun to see how much they have grown since March. So I had each one stand against the wall and I cheered for each when we saw how much they had grown. Gracie thought this was really fun! For the rest of the afternoon I would occasionally find her standing against the growth banner clapping and cheering for herself. She is just so delightful and she makes me laugh all day with her funny faces, silly jabbering, and fun personality.
Just in case you are wondering what the "X" on the floor is...that is the naughty spot...uh oh!

there's something about a sleeping baby...

that just makes a person want to take a picture. Every night before I go to bed I check on all the kids. This is my favorite part of the day. They always look so sweet and cozy and it reminds me just how much I adore them. Here are a couple favorite pictures I have taken lately of Gracie - she makes me laugh, even when she is sleeping.

el numero siete

A snapshot someone took of us at our reception

Two years ago in Hawaii, celebrating our 5th anniversary.

A funny thing happened to Scott and me Saturday evening. We were out getting a couple things done before Sunday and all of the sudden it dawned on me what was happening on Sunday. I turned to Scott and said to him, "Tomorrow is a special day...." He was thinking to himself, 'Cinco de Mayo has passed, we already had her birthday...' and then he asked me what the date was. Saturday was May 31st, which meant that the next day was our anniversary. We have both been so busy and preoccupied with with other things that we completely forgot. It did make it easy in a way because we knew that neither of us would be getting something for the other person.

It has been seven years and I have to tell that honestly I am pretty excited for the next seven. I always feel so blessed that I was able to find Scott and be smart enough to fall in love with him. I know that we say that the Lord loves all him children equally, but I sometimes think I have a pretty good argument for why he loves me a little more - He let me be married to Scott. Happy Anniversary Scottith...I think you are just the BEST!!!!!!!!
